Radiohead to make rare appearance at Palace | The Detroit News | detroitnews.com:
"Thom Yorke of Radiohead is set to bring his English rock band to the Palace of Auburn Hills on June 11.
At long last, Detroit's Radiohead drought is over.
The English rock band will perform at the Palace of Auburn Hills on June 11, promoters announced Monday, marking its first area show in almost 15 years. Tickets go on sale Saturday; prices are TBA.
Radiohead's last Detroit concert was Aug. 15, 1997, at the Fillmore Detroit, which was then known as the State Theatre. The band was touring on its third album, "OK Computer," which was released that summer, and few in the crowd would have guessed it would be a decade and a half before the group would return to Metro Detroit.
In the ensuing years the band continued to tour throughout the U.S., playing multiple shows in nearby cities such as Cleveland, Chicago and Toronto along the way. Meanwhile, rumors swirled about why Radiohead hadn't played Detroit, and ranged from urban legends about the band's gear getting stolen from the venue in 1997 to an altercation with the Insane Clown Posse. There were also stories about the band refusing to play venues with corporate sponsoring, including DTE Energy Music Theatre.
Radiohead is supporting its eighth studio album, 2011's "The King of Limbs." The group kicked off its 2012 tour last month in Miami, and debuted several new songs at the show. In addition to its own tour dates, Radiohead is due at this year's Coachella and Bonnaroo festivals.
Canadian electronic artist Caribou will open the Palace show."'via Blog this'
